In a study, AI agents increased prices for users with more wealth
In one test, the price of a flight to Chicago went from $91 to $601 after the agent read emails about investments.
Researchers did a study of 13 AI models. The AI agents increased the price for users that they thought had more wealth. This occurred also when the user told the agent to find a low price. The same result occurred in tests for health insurance and for computer science PhD programs. The researchers find that an agent follows the data about the user more and the instructions less. The risk increases if an agent has access to a crypto wallet.
In one test of 13 AI models, an agent's "cheapest" flight to Chicago cost $601 instead of $91 after it read investment emails.
