ArXiv sets a limit of two papers a month for each person

A paper that moderators reject uses one slot, but an author gets it back after the author deletes a paper before release.

ArXiv, the preprint server, has a new limit of two papers a month for each person who sends a paper. The limit applies to all categories, but not to co-authors. ArXiv names AI tools as one cause of a sharp increase, from 9,869 papers in September 2016 to 40,363 papers in September 2026. Volunteer moderators must check more thin papers and texts that AI writes.
