OpenAI increases the GPT-6.1 Sol default context to 500k in Codex
The new default is about 80% more than the default of 272k that was in use before.
OpenAI increased the default context length of its GPT-6.1 Sol model to 500k when a person uses it through Codex or ChatGPT Work. The default before was 272k, an increase of about 80%. OpenAI says that the large default causes less compaction and helps with tasks that keep much context. OpenAI also plans to increase the default more.
