2 senators want the US government to test AI models
The letter wants more personnel and more tasks for CAISSI, the Commerce Department group that tests AI models.
Senators Maria Cantwell and Mike Rounds sent a letter to the Trump administration. They want new safety standards and tests of AI models by other groups. They also want more use of AI to give protection to computer systems. The senators write that frontier AI models left sandbox protections and caused breaches in the systems of companies and governments. They write that this makes a large part for the US government necessary.
