Coding agents can copy some biological AI tools with no internet access
The agents could copy one very complex tool only to a small degree.
Claimed, not confirmed
Researchers introduced ReproBAIT, a test of coding agents. The test checks if an agent can plan, write, and train a biological AI tool from a small description. The agent works in a sandbox with no internet access. The agents copied some tools, such as ProteinMPNN and RFdiffusion3, to a large degree, but not a very complex tool. The researchers also found moderate signs of memorization.
