Open-weight models process 7 in 10 tokens on the Vercel AI Gateway

Vercel reports that open-weight models processed more than 7 in 10 tokens on its AI Gateway in September. In August, they processed most of the token volume for the first time. The share of spending on these models in September was more than 4 times the share in June. The gateway cannot see use through other gateways or use of models from vendors. Because of this, the data shows only a part of all use.
