Meta removes terms text that experts said let it scrape news sites
Meta states the text was only for its ad and business tools. A site can use `robots.txt` to set its limits.
Meta removed text from its commercial terms page after experts spoke against it. The text said Meta could use content from web pages to train its AI. James Grimmelmann, a law professor at Cornell, read it as a right to use scraped content for free. Grimmelmann also read it as a right to override robots.txt. Meta states this is incorrect. It gives no test result.
