New turn in Character.AI sale as Disney offers work to 60 workers
A court record says Disney will give new staff about $60 million each year, but a rival can offer more.
Character.AI, a chatbot company, filed for bankruptcy this week. It said Disney agreed to buy some of its assets for $20 million.
Disney will offer work to 60 or more Character.AI staff, most of the team. The record says most of them accepted. The bid is a first offer that a rival can top. For buyers of AI start-ups, the team can be part of the sale.
