Stripe is reported to buy OpenRouter for about 7.5 billion dollars

Bloomberg reported on 16 August 2026 that Stripe will buy OpenRouter. OpenRouter is a startup that sends one API call from an app to one of more than 400 AI models. The New York Times gave a price of 7.5 billion dollars. Stripe says that it does not address rumors. OpenRouter has not confirmed the deal. The reports say that the deal is agreed, not closed.
