SAP wants 1,000 AI agents from partners before TechEd
SAP wants agents that work at customers with results that can be measured, and not only agents that partners make.
SAP told partners to make 100 to 200 AI agents before SAP Sapphire in May 2026, and partners made more than 680. SAP wants 1,000 agents from partner companies before TechEd, with results that customer can measure. Karl Fahrbach, SAP Chief Partner Officer, tells that SAP must measure partners on results for customers, not on the number of tasks they do.
What is new
SAP has a fund of 100 million euro for partners that make and deploy agents. Agents from partners go into the SAP AI Agent Hub. There customers can find and set up each agent as they do for an agent from SAP. The hub is free for customers with a maximum of 500 agents. An agent must go through a check before customers can get it.
The numbers
As of 1 October, SAP has more than 500 customers for the fund. More than 120 agents from partners are on SAP Discovery Center. The number must be more than 300 by the end of this year, SAP tells.
What is not known
SAP gives no results from agents that work at customers. It does not tell how many of the 680 agents work at customers.
Insight: The count of agents shows supply, and SAP controls the way to customers
Partners made more than 680 agents by May, and more than 120 are on Discovery Center at this time. SAP holds the hub, the check and the free access. Pax8 also makes a tool that lets IT partners control agents at their customers. This reads as a move to hold the layer where agents are approved and controlled. The one that holds it controls how agents are used.
