Daytona gets $60 million for a cloud for AI agents

The CEO of Daytona gives this number: revenue run rate increased 25 times from January to September.

Daytona is a startup in San Francisco that makes cloud computers for AI agents. On Tuesday it got $60 million from investors, at a value of $1 billion. FirstMark was the primary investor. About $50 million came from old investors. In total, Daytona has about $91 million at this time. The CEO, Ivan Burazin, gives this number: revenue run rate (a measure of revenue at this time) increased 25 times from January to September.

How it works

A sandbox is a virtual computer. An agent works in it with only the software and network access that it must have. Burazin tells that Daytona makes a new sandbox in 60 milliseconds. It keeps snapshots of prepared machines on server drives and starts them again. Burazin gives 30 seconds to many minutes for the large clouds.

The numbers

Daytona tells that Snorkel, a customer, made more than one million sandboxes. Burazin gives growth of 50.9% each month. These numbers come from the company, and no other group did a test of them.

What is not known

Burazin agrees that the large cloud companies could do the same. Burazin tells that it is hard for them to change their systems for agents. The source gives no test that compares the speed with their clouds.

Insight: Agents can make CPUs a new limit on AI growth

Burazin thinks that the cost of CPUs will be more than the cost of GPUs. Burazin sees a shortage of CPUs. In May, AMD increased its growth forecast for server CPUs, from about 18% to more than 35% a year. If each agent has a computer for itself, it looks like CPUs become a new limit, and companies with free CPUs get more control. Leaders must get CPU wait times from suppliers.
