GoTo makes a free AI model for 5 Indonesian languages
GoTo gave no test scores, and users cannot compare the model with models from global labs.
Claimed, not confirmed
On October 19, 2026, GoTo, an Indonesian company, showed a new open source language model in Sanur, Bali. The model has 27 billion parameters, which are the values in the model. It works with Bahasa Indonesia, Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese and Bataknese, and GoTo tells that it stays free for users such as startups and universities.
What is new
The model is part of Sahabat-AI, a group of open source models that GoTo started in November 2024. Kontan reports a model name that includes gemma3. This could show that GoTo added training to an open model.
The numbers
The model has 27 billion parameters. GoTo gave no test scores and no data on the training. It gave no names of the engineers.
What is not known
GoTo did not tell the license terms. It did not tell if the model replaces the model of 2025, which had 70 billion parameters, or works with it.
Insight: Local companies can build on the open models of large labs
Meta released the open weight Muse Spark Open on 17 October. GoTo added training to an open model, as the name could show. This reads as a stack where large labs give the first model and local companies add language and keep the user. Look at the license terms, which GoTo has not given.
