Mural gets $15 million with Tether as primary investor
A study finds that 78% of companies let agents only read systems, and 2% let agents do usual tasks without a person.
On 20 October 2026, Mural, a financial infrastructure company, got $15 million in a Series A round, which is a round of money from investors. Tether is the primary investor, and the money is for global growth and for the payment systems for agent finance. Mural gave no revenue numbers or customer numbers, and no numbers to show that it works at scale.
What is new
Mural thinks that it is a compliant system of record. FinTechs and platforms use it to move and keep money, with accounts, payments, identity and compliance in one system. It is for humans and for the agents that work for them.
The numbers
- 78% of companies let agents only read systems.
- 18% let agents do tasks with human approval.
- 2% let agents do usual tasks without approval.
PYMNTS Intelligence made the study.
What is not known
Tether is the issuer of USDT, a stablecoin, which is a digital token. Its chief executive thinks that Mural works at scale, but the source gives no numbers. The claim of 10 billion non-human participants is from the chief executive of Mural.
Insight: Investors fund the rails before agents move money
Only 2% of firms let agents work without a person, but Tether is the primary investor in rails for agents that move money. This reads as money for the compliance layer first, and the 18% with human approval are the next group to monitor. Make approval steps.
