Meta says its Muse AI agent has more than 10 million users
About 25% of persons who set up Muse use it daily, and Meta plans to get a share of the sales made through it.
Meta said in its third quarter earnings session on Wednesday that its AI agent app Muse has more than 10 million users. This agrees with estimates from the data firm Sensor Tower. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that more than a quarter of engaged users who shop with Muse had an average purchase above $200. Meta plans to scale the app and increase revenue.
How it works
Muse is an AI agent that can shop for a user. It uses a connector from the finance company Plaid to do this. Users also connect it to email and calendars.
The numbers
Zuckerberg gave these numbers:
- About 25% of persons who set up Muse use it daily.
- The average purchase of the shoppers is above $200.
- Meta expects to increase cost efficiency by more than 10 times in the next year.
What is not known
These figures come from Meta and Zuckerberg. Meta gave no revenue figure for Muse. Zuckerberg said Muse has a high cost to operate at this time, and that it will make a profit only when revenue is at scale. Muse Confidential VM, which will hide content from Meta, is not available at this time.
Insight: Free Muse lets Meta get a share of sales
Meta keeps Muse free for most users and plans to get a share of the sales. DataDome says Muse made 33% of agentic browser traffic and does not tell a site that it is an agent. This reads as a toll gate on sales: Meta can get a fee on each sale, and shops cannot easily see Muse. Shops must select a step for agents that give no name.
