Zuckerberg says Meta will make a network of billions of Muse agents
Muse costs much to operate, and Meta free cash flow was negative $2.12 billion in the third quarter.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Wednesday that Meta wants a large network of Muse agents that work together. Muse agents are AI helpers that work for a user. Meta says more than 10 million persons in the US and Canada made an agent from the start of September. Zuckerberg said Muse costs much to operate.
How it works
Zuckerberg said that billions of Muse agents in one network can do more for persons and businesses. Meta does not charge users at the start, to get more users.
The numbers
- Meta says more than a quarter of Muse users use it for shopping.
- The average purchase is more than $200.
- Meta expects to spend $135 billion or more this year, with most of it for AI infrastructure.
- Cash flow was negative $2.12 billion in the quarter that ended on 30 September.
What is not known
Meta gave no information on how the agents will work together or share data.
Users say Muse read private texts and gave an unknown person the home address of a user. Amazon stopped the agents at its shop. It cited concerns about how they use customer credentials.
Insight: Meta gives the agent away to own the sales route
Meta gives Muse away free. It plans to get a share of the sales that the agent makes. Shopping is the top use, and Amazon stopped the agents at its shop. This reads as a race to hold the toll gate for agent sales. The Amazon step is the first test. Look for other shops that follow Amazon.
