Dayforce agrees to buy Ribbon AI, a video and voice interviewer
Ribbon AI says it has done more than one million interviews, but no test of hiring quality is given.
Dayforce, a maker of HR software, agreed to buy Ribbon AI. Ribbon makes AI that talks with candidates by voice and video. Dayforce says Ribbon has hundreds of customers and has done more than one million interviews. The announcement gives no value and no closing date. Dayforce plans to put Ribbon in its Agentic Recruiting software after closing. Ribbon also searches other applicant pools for new work.
How it works
Ribbon starts with a description of the work. It makes questions and a scoring rubric, then talks with the candidate and asks follow-up questions. It also searches other applicant pools and contacts persons by SMS, WhatsApp and email.
The numbers
All numbers come from the company. About 90% of customers use the default setup. The software was tested on as many as 30 million candidates in one applicant tracking system. No test of hiring quality is given.
What is not known
The AI scheduling agent is not finished. Dayforce plans to put Ribbon in its Agentic Recruiting software after closing, but gives no date. The video checks flag unusual audio, gaze or timing. These flags do not prove misconduct.
Insight: HR software makers now buy tested agents or cut agents
Dayforce buys software that is in use. In October 2026, Workday cut its AI agents from 50 to 20 and will add C1.ai to control access for workers and agents. This reads as a move by HR software suites to control the hiring step with some tested agents. The maker that controls this step can also control the data and the defaults.
