Anthropic files to go public as Claude Code drives sales

The top 5% of Claude Code users on Enterprise spent about 20 times what the average Enterprise user without it spent, says Anthropic.

Anthropic, the maker of the Claude AI models, filed on Monday to go public on Nasdaq with the ticker ANT. Its filing says the average Claude Enterprise user without Claude Code spent less than $75 a month in the third quarter. The top 5% of Claude Code users on Enterprise spent about 20 times that. The filing gives no price range.

How it works

Anthropic says an engineer picks up Claude Code, likes it and pushes it in the company. The sales team comes after that. Anthropic also sells the control software that runs Claude Code. Developers can operate it on their own servers, or pay Anthropic to operate it.

The numbers

  • Revenue was $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $1.2 billion.
  • More than 11,900 customers pay $100,000 or more.
  • Claude wrote more than 90% of the contributions to the codebase of Anthropic in September.

What is not known

Anthropic does not give a meaning for contributions. It does not say how much a person looks at that code. Its risk papers tell that its own staff could find some of the work of Claude hard to control. The filing names Google and OpenAI as the primary rivals.

Insight: Anthropic wants to operate the agent, not only sell the model

The filing says token use was 50% of revenue, and a model without control software is not an agent. In October 2026 Anthropic added dynamic workflows to Claude Managed Agents, and Google Cloud added a Claude deployment that Anthropic operates. This reads as a move to own the software where agents operate. Leaders who use Claude must see which parts of their stack Anthropic can sell.
