Scan finds 94% of 1,500 sites cannot accept an AI agent
Encore says a blocked AI agent finishes its task on a rival site, and the business does not see the task it did not get.
On 23 October 2026, Encore, a company that builds AI agents for sales and customer calls, shared a scan of more than 1,500 organizations. It sent AI assistants that many persons use to pages that all can see. Encore says 94% of the sites could not accept an agent connection. It says 26% blocked agents that told their type.
How it works
A blocked agent records a path that did not complete the task. It finishes the task on a different site, and it can remember that path for the user. The author says the systems behind agents also learn only from sites where tasks can be done.
The numbers
- 94% of sites could not accept an agent connection.
- 26% blocked agents that told their type.
- 1% let a customer give an agent a small task with approval.
- 6% had a position on AI agents.
What is not known
Encore sells agents and did the scan. It published all checks and weights, and a person can calculate a score again. The author gave no test that shows agents learn to prevent blocked sites.
Insight: Shops and banks split on how to treat agents
Amazon blocks the Muse agent of Meta, and Schwab blocks external agents from money moves. Walmart built an Agentic Gateway and works with Meta on an open standard. This reads as a move to set the rules for agent access. The first gate that agents and customers accept can set them for others. Only 1% of examined organizations give customers a small approval for an agent.
