Banco Sabadell picks a T-Systems platform to run AI agents at scale
The bank wants to control agents that use different models. It does not want to depend on one model or one provider.
Banco Sabadell, the fourth largest banking group in Spain, with seven million customers, made an agreement with T-Systems. T-Systems is the digital services division of Deutsche Telekom and one of the large cloud providers in Europe. The bank uses its agentic AI platform to deploy agents across the group. Agentic AI is AI that does tasks in many steps. The source gives no date, price or test results.
What the bank buys
A platform to govern and control agents built with different technologies and models, and to link them with company systems. Business teams can monitor the agents and keep to the strict rules of regulators. The platform covers a large part of the deployment needs, so the bank does not make them from nothing.
The design
The platform is open and modular. The bank can select models, parts and infrastructure by performance, cost, security and compliance. This avoids vendor lock in, which is a dependence on one provider. It also permits sovereign cloud, which gives more control over data and operations.
What is not known
No contract value, term or start date is given. No use cases are named. The claims come from the companies. Rüdiger Schmidt, the chief technology officer of the bank, says the point is independence from the AI models on the market.
Insight: Buyers now pay for control of agents, not for one model
The chief technology officer of Sabadell says the deal keeps the bank independent of the models on the market. Earlier, Anthropic, OpenAI and Alibaba each gave an agent tool to a neutral group, the Agentic AI Foundation. This reads as a move of power: the layer that controls agents can be more important than one model, and vendors compete to own it. Leaders must look for model vendors that push for that layer.
