Google shows Gemini 4 Carbon and gives it first to cyber defenders
Carbon is first on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59, but only some cyber defenders can use it.
Google showed Gemini 4 Carbon. It is the new top model of Google, 2 weeks after Gemini 4 Argon. Google tells that Carbon is first on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59. It is good at code and at cyber defense. At this time only some cyber defenders can use it. Google gives no date for a release to more users.
How it works
Google made Carbon for long tasks in software. Google tells that its teams saw Carbon work for days on hard bugs in large code. Access goes in steps through the Fairwind Program, which adds trusted partners. The price is $2 for each million input tokens and $10 for each million output tokens.
The numbers
Google gives these results for tests without guardrails:
- 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro, to find vulnerabilities
- 54.8% on ExploitGym, to show that a vulnerability can be used
- 71.0% on CWE-bench, to repair vulnerabilities
What is not known
Google gives no date for developers, businesses or consumers. It gives no speed figure. All results are from Google. Google is in in the US government tests before release. Google selects to do them.
Insight: Google tells the results but not the speed
On 23 October, users on X told that Carbon uses 2 to 4 times more time than Argon. Those reports are not tests, and Google gives no speed figure. This reads as a move to release the top cyber model in steps, and to tell results before speed. Builders must test speed and cost on their tasks before they move from Argon.
