Google closes Jules coding agent and moves to Antigravity
Jules users can finish their work until 11 November 2027, and then all projects are read only.
Google said on X that it will close Jules, its AI coding agent that started in 2025. Google wants one agent tool, Antigravity, and will use lessons from Jules there. Google also added a tool to export the data of each user, and users can move their work. Google gave no number of users. It said only that thousands of developers tested Jules in the beta phase.
What changes
Users have until 11 November 2027 to finish their Jules sessions. After that date, Jules is read only for its projects.
The new export tool saves these items in one folder:
- account settings and tasks
- connected repositories and setup scripts
- each session with its plan and code patches
The proof
Google gave no data on use. One comment on X said that this affects only 3 persons. That is one opinion and not a measure. The report says that strong tools from rivals are Codex and Claude Code.
What is not known
Google did not tell which Jules tools will move to Antigravity, or when. Google said that Jules was an experiment to learn how coding agents help developers.
Insight: Google keeps fewer agents and opens its tools to rivals
In October 2026, Google opened its Android app tool to more than 40 external agents. It also put one agent for work, image and code in its business AI tool. Google seems to want to own the area where agents work, and not each agent. Monitor if Antigravity uses external agents too. Teams that use one Google agent must plan for a change.
