Sentra gets $150M to limit data access for AI agents

Sentra tells that its growth was 300% in one year as firms look for control of the data that AI agents can read.

Sentra, a cybersecurity company in New York and Tel Aviv, got $150 million in Series C funding. The primary investor is Capital One Ventures. Sentra makes software that finds sensitive data, shows which persons or agents can get it, and removes access that is too wide. Its total funding is more than $250 million. The company has 130 persons.

How it works

Sentra works on the data, not on each task that an agent does. It finds access that is too wide for the task. It can remove permissions without a person when an agent does an unexpected task. Sentra tells that the work is in the system of the customer and no data goes to Sentra.

The numbers

  • Growth of 300% year on year, Sentra tells.
  • Total funding: more than $250 million.
  • Staff: 130 persons, 65 of them in Tel Aviv.

Sentra tells that some firms operate thousands of agents, and only some can see the data that the agents can get.

What is not known

The text names no customer, gives no test of the software and gives no revenue figure. The data on agent growth come from Sentra. Sentra will use the $150 million for software work, markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the United States federal sector.

On 4 November, CrowdStrike launched agents that look into security alerts. Sentra works on the other side: limits on the data that agents can get. SOCRadar found that the n0n gang used weak or stolen passwords, not software bugs. This reads as 2 markets, one for agents that do work and one for limits on access, and access that is too wide is in the 2 markets. Tell your team who holds the permissions of your agents.
