Google cuts video model price 30% and extends clips to 15 seconds
Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash costs $0.07 for each second of 720p video, and all customers can use it.
Google made Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash available to all customers in the Gemini API and Gemini for business. The model makes and edits video from text, images, short movement clips and audio cues, and videos can be 15 seconds long, up from 10. The price is 30% less than Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, and Google tells that the model is ready for production.
What is new
Google tells that the model keeps faces, clothes, package text and brand colors the same across camera angles.
- Length: 3 to 15 seconds, in steps of one second.
- Edits in chat: change a product or the light with no new video.
- Drafts at 360p or 720p, then upscale to 1080p or 4K.
The proof
Google gives no test scores, only the price and customer quotes. The video tool maker invideo tells that it did its own tests. It rates the model among the best for fast video at scale.
What is not known
Audio inputs must be on an approved list, and chat video creation in Gemini comes in a short time. The text compares the model only to Omni 1.1, not to rival models. Outputs have an invisible SynthID watermark.
Insight: Rival video tools use Google’s model
Artlist, Runway, Picsart, Krea and FLORA use Omni in their products. Photoroom tells that general availability and firm terms let it use the model in production. This reads as a toll gate. When rival tools use one supplier, a lower price and firm terms make Google the primary layer. Tool makers then follow its price.
