Amazon adds its Agent Registry to a US government cloud
US public sector teams get one approved catalog of agents and tools, with audit logs.
Amazon Web Services made its Agent Registry available to all customers in the GovCloud US-West region, a cloud region for US government work. The registry is a catalog where an organization records its AI agents and tools. US public sector groups and their partners get one controlled record of the agents and tools that they operate.
What is new
A group adds MCP servers (connectors that give agents tools), tools, agents and agent skills to a catalog. An approval workflow controls which items other persons and agents can find. They find items with hybrid search, in the catalog, or through an MCP endpoint.
The proof
Amazon gave no numbers or test results. It tells that the approval workflow and the audit logs of AWS CloudTrail help with compliance and oversight.
What is not known
The source does not tell if the registry can show agents on other clouds. It gives no date for other regions.
Insight: Cloud vendors race to hold the catalog of agents
Gartner tells that in many firms no one has a full record of agents. IBM gives a gateway for agents from other firms, and at this time Amazon puts its registry in its US government cloud. This reads as a race to hold the catalog of agents, because the group that keeps the catalog controls which agents other persons can find. Gartner tells that by 2029 a platform will manage 60% of agents.
