Lightning Labs gives AI agents Bitcoin payments with no human step

Each agent wallet starts with a limit of 300,000 satoshi (a small unit of Bitcoin), and the toolkit charges 0.25% on each payment.

Lightning Labs opened Wavelength to all users. Wavelength is a toolkit that lets AI agents send and receive Bitcoin on the Bitcoin mainnet with no human approval for each payment. The company tells that agents can use it for API fees, data and payments to other agents. The toolkit is in alpha (a first test), and the company gave no test results.

How it works

Agents use the Lightning Network and L402 for payments. One fee can be less than 1 cent. Developers add payments to an app and do not operate nodes, control channels or put in liquidity.

The numbers

Each wallet has a limit of 300,000 satoshi at the start. Wavelength has a fee of 0.25% on Lightning payments. The source gives no test results and no count of users.

What is not known

The toolkit is in alpha. Stablecoins (coins with the value of a currency) are only a plan. The source gives no date.

Insight: Payment rails for agents compete

Crossmint released a toolkit for agent card payments at checkout on 12 October 2026. Chainalysis counted 138 million agent payments on the Base network. Lightning Labs adds Bitcoin. This reads as a contest for the primary rail, and the rail that agents use most will get a fee on each payment. Builders must add more than one rail.
