Chargebacks911 offers to pay merchants for AI agent sales
The tool pays merchants for chargebacks on purchases that the AI agent of a buyer made.
Chargebacks911, a US company that manages payment disputes, launched a tool that protects merchants against chargebacks on purchases made by AI agents. A chargeback is a forced refund after a buyer disputes a payment. The tool finds the sales that involve an agent and selects the sales that it protects. It operates with the fraud filters that a merchant has.
How it works
The tool uses the AI technology, the behavior data and the dispute data of the company to find purchase patterns. Then it selects the agent sales that are eligible. A merchant does not replace its fraud systems or change its checkout.
The proof
The company gave no price, no test results and no number of protected sales. The source does not tell which chargebacks qualify.
What the others say
The payments industry has no agreement on who authorizes an agent purchase and who is liable. Visa has the Trusted Agent Protocol and Mastercard has Agent Pay. Chargebacks911 says that merchants must not have this new risk alone.
Insight: Each firm sells its own answer to who pays for agent errors
American Express says it protects a card holder from an agent error. This is correct only if the agent is registered with it and it authenticates the purchase intent. Forter says that agent purchases grew four times since August 2026 and bot fraud two times. This reads as a race to set the rule on agent liability. The first rule that merchants accept can set who pays.
