Google shows Gemini 4 Carbon, first on an AI index at 59

At this time, Google gives Carbon only to a small group of cyber defenders.

Google showed Gemini 4 Carbon, its new AI model, in its report for quarter 3 of 2026. Google reports that Carbon is first on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, with a score of 59. In the same report, Google Cloud revenue increased 103% and Alphabet revenue increased 25% from a year before. Google reports that it does not have sufficient capacity.

What is new

Google reports that Carbon is more able than Argon, its model from 2 weeks before, in almost all areas. Examples are web development and science. The US government tests Carbon.

The numbers

  • Google models read and write almost 32 billion tokens (small pieces of text) each minute.
  • That is 40% more than in the last quarter.
  • Google teams that use Argon made 35% more code with 30% less errors.

These are numbers from Google. No other group did a check of them.

What is not known

Google gave no test results for Carbon, only the index position. It gave no date for more customers. It reports that it works to add capacity.

Insight: Google counts use, buyers must count results

Google reports 103% cloud growth and that its capacity is short. A Gartner poll of 2,002 leaders found that 13% see large AI results, and 75% of CEOs will increase AI spending. Sellers report use. Customers must show results. This reads as a difference that Google growth does not close for you. Monitor the limits and fees that Google sets while capacity is short.
