Upwind gets $400M at a $3.8B value for cloud and AI security
At more than $50 million in annual recurring revenue, the value is about 76 times revenue.
Upwind, a cloud and AI security company in San Francisco, closed a $400 million investment round at a $3.8 billion value. Bessemer Venture Partners was the primary investor. Upwind monitors cloud software in real time. It shows cloud workloads and AI agents in one view. Hundreds of firms use it, for example Siemens and Roku.
What Upwind sells
Upwind monitors software in real time and does not use scans at set times. If an AI agent gets data that it must not get, the tools show that data. They also connect the access to the code.
The numbers
Upwind says that its revenue increased by 4 times this year. The Information reports an increase from about $20 million to more than $50 million. That is 2.5 times. The 2 claims do not agree.
What is not known
Upwind says it will use the money for more features. For 2027, it is not known if revenue will increase by a sufficient quantity for the value.
Insight: Investors paid the price of a buyer
Datadog made an offer of almost $4 billion for Upwind this month, and Upwind rejected it. The investment round values Upwind at $3.8 billion. Google completed its $32 billion purchase of Wiz, the market leader. This reads as a step to stay free: investors gave almost the price of the buyer. The next move to monitor is a new bid.
