Freshworks buys Robusta to find the cause of IT outage with AI

The deal puts AI cause detection in Freshservice. Engineers give approval before it changes a live system.

Freshworks has bought Robusta, a start-up in Israel, for a price that it did not give. Robusta makes AI agents that read monitoring data and new code changes to find the cause of a system fault. Freshworks will add this to Freshservice, its tool for IT management. The company gave no test results or customer names.

How it works

Robusta agents read monitoring data, data from IT infrastructure, and new changes to code or configuration. They find the cause of an outage and show which connected systems it hurts. They suggest repair steps.

Engineers give approval for each step before a change goes to production systems.

The numbers

Freshworks gave no figures for speed or precision. It says only that the tool is designed to cut manual work and group alerts. Founder Natan Yellin says that large companies have many raw events.

Freshworks had a loss of $4.8 million in the first quarter of 2026. Revenue grew 16% to $228.6 million. It plans to cut 11% of its staff, about 500 persons.

What is not known

The value of the deal is not known. The date when the tool will be in Freshservice is not known.

Insight: Freshworks is buying each step of the outage process

In October Freshworks agreed to buy Torii, a company that tracks software use and AI spend. In December 2025 it bought FireHydrant, a company that coordinates the response to outages. Robusta adds the step that finds the cause. This reads as an aim to control all steps from fault to repair. A customer of one part then has a cause to use all parts. Monitor if Freshworks sells these parts as one package.
