The Telegraph tells that SpaceX cut the quotas of Grok Bot by half for some users. Grok Bot is an AI agent that does tasks for users. Musk wrote on X on Sunday that the cost of Grok Bot was too high for its revenue. Less than two weeks before, Forbes tells, he said it is his fastest growing product.
What happened
Grok Bot opens websites, writes email replies and enters accounts. One user told that a new quota took days to come. Musk did not tell that there is a cut.
The numbers
At the start of October, Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, gave a figure of 800,000 paying users each week. This is more than double the figure of the month before.
Anthropic tells that an agent costs four to 15 times as much as a simple chat.
What is not known
The source gives no new quota numbers. It does not tell if the limits will change again. OpenAI will join the quotas of its code tool and its chat in December.
Insight: Flat-rate AI plans break when agents sell well
On 20 October 2026, Musk told that AI agents can cause a maximum of 1,000 times more world bandwidth use. He gave a time of 3 to 5 years. SpaceX limits its agent for cost. OpenAI gives ChatGPT plans one token budget from December. Agents cost more than a flat price pays. Vendors look like they move to plans with a charge for use. Buyers have no fixed budget.
