Chime will let members use external AI agents with their accounts

Members control who can access their accounts and which tasks an agent can do with their money.

Chime, a digital bank with 10.9 million active members, tells that it makes safe connections to general-purpose AI agents. Members can select the agent. The agents will work with Jade, the AI assistant of Chime for information about money. Chime told this with its third quarter results, when revenue was $718 million, 32% more than the year before.

How it works

Chime makes safe connections to the agents. Each member selects who can access the account and which tasks the agent can do. Britt of Chime tells that no one agent is correct for all areas of life. For money, Britt tells that an agent must have money skills and safe controls.

The numbers

Active members increased 20% to 10.9 million. Average revenue per active member increased 10% to $270. Chime gave no data on the use of the agent connections.

What is not known

Chime gave no start date, no names of agents and no test results. It did not tell how it will limit the tasks of an agent. The source tells that financial institutions do not agree on external agents in their systems.

Insight: Bank income may explain who opens the door to agents

Citigroup told in October 2026 that it does not let agents use accounts. Apollo economist Torsten Slok tells that agents can move cash from accounts that pay 0.1% to accounts that pay 3.3% to 5%. An analyst points to the card fees and short loans of Chime. This reads as the cause: banks that pay a small rate stop agents, and Chime can let them in. The next move is a fight for customers.
