Bedrock adds Moonshot AI model Kimi K3.1 Pro and a fast variant
Companies can use the open-weight Kimi K3.1 Pro with the security of closed models, but only Moonshot AI gives the quality claims.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has Kimi K3.1 Pro on Amazon Bedrock, its tool to operate AI models. Moonshot AI, a company in Beijing, made the model. It reads 1 million tokens (units of text) at one time. AWS also has a Highspeed variant, which gives more output tokens each second, for coding and document work.
What is new
Kimi K3.1 Pro has open weights, which are model files that all persons can get. Moonshot AI tells that it is multimodal, which is a model that works with more than text. The company tells that it has about 3 trillion parameters. On Bedrock, the model operates in the same security boundary as closed models. It has prompt caching, which keeps input for use again to decrease the response time and the cost.
The numbers
AWS gave no test results. Moonshot AI tells that the model is good at coding, 3D work and financial research. The source gives no numbers for these claims.
What is not known
The source gives no price for Bedrock. It does not tell how much more speed the Highspeed variant has. In October 2026, Moonshot AI told that it removed cyber attack data from training. Only Moonshot AI has test numbers for that change.
Insight: AWS sells the shelf, not the model
AWS adds a model from Beijing in the same security boundary as closed models. In October 2026, Moonshot AI removed attack data, and its cyber test score fell from 90.5% to 81.0%. This reads as a move to be the shelf for all models, and the model maker has a small part. Buyers must test the model before they select it.
