Fourthline and Veridas merge with €40 million from Ashgrove

The new firm says it will do 115 million identity checks this year in more than 50 countries.

Fourthline is a company from Amsterdam. It checks the identity of customers of banks. It will merge with Veridas, a company that makes identity and anti-fraud software. Ashgrove, an investor, put €40 million into Fourthline to finish the deal. The full funding package is a maximum of €65 million. The firms say the deal will finish in the second half of 2026.

What is new

Fourthline gives compliance checks to banks such as Revolut and N26. These checks help the banks follow the law on money crime. Veridas started in 2017 as a joint venture with BBVA. It has more than 350 clients in 25 countries. The new company will use one AI system.

The numbers

The firms say that together they will do 115 million checks this year. Other investors are Finch Capital and Seaya Andromeda. The money is for new products, more purchases, debt refinance and money back to some Veridas shareholders.

What is not known

The source gives no price for the merger. It gives no test results for the AI system. It does not say how the two products will connect. The regulators must give approval for the deal.

Insight: Identity checks are a field where many players compete

On 14 October 2026, GoDaddy, Infoblox, Google and Cloudflare showed an open identity check for AI agents. On 18 October, World made identity proofs for agents that move money. At this time, two checkers connect. This reads as a race to control the identity gate. The merger reads as a move to get scale. The source does not tell about agents. Look for agent checks from the new firm.
