Cisco opens Model Foundry for partners to tune its AI models
A tuned Cisco network model gave the right repair in 11 of 12 lab tests, World Wide Technology says.
Cisco opened Model Foundry, a new tool in Cisco Cloud Control, where partners use Cisco AI models and tune them with data of their customers. World Wide Technology, a Cisco partner, says a tuned model gave the right repair in 11 of 12 lab tests. The work was five weeks long, and Cisco showed it at its Partner Summit.
How it works
A partner selects a Cisco model and connects to it through an API (a connection for software) that works as the OpenAI API does. The partner can tune the model with logs, alerts and tickets of a customer. The tool shows the first model and the tuned model side by side.
The numbers
World Wide Technology tuned the Deep Network Model, which has 31 billion parameters (model values). It tested the model on Cisco devices in a lab. It says the model gave the right repair in 11 of 12 tests.
What is not known
The model has trouble with a network with no fault and with two faults at the same time. Cisco says its models are good at network work when used as they are, but it gives no number for that. The test was in a lab and not in a network in use.
Insight: Cisco and Microsoft both sell tuning of models
On 26 October 2026 Cisco also opened Cisco IQ to all partners. It finds risks in network equipment. On 23 October Microsoft added open models and one host for many tuned models to Foundry. It looks like each vendor wants to be the host of tuned models, because the data for that is with partners and customers. Before you sign, find out who owns the tuned model.
