Ripple releases a starter kit for AI agents to pay on the XRP Ledger
Ripple says a developer can go from setup to a confirmed test payment in less than 30 minutes.
Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit on June 10. The kit gives developers tools and guides for apps in which AI agents pay with XRP and RLUSD. RLUSD is a stablecoin, a coin with a stable price. The payments go through the XRP Ledger, a payment network. Ripple gave no test results for the kit.
How it works
Phase one helps developers to start. The kit has these parts:
- a documents server that connects Claude Code and Cursor to ledger documents
- agent skills for wallet creation, balance checks, payments and transaction tracking
- two new guides
RLUSD moves with the same tools as XRP.
The numbers
Ripple says the ledger settles in three to five seconds and costs are known before a payment. It says the ledger has had no transaction rollbacks from 2012. These are claims by Ripple.
What is not known
Researchers at IC3, a group of academics, say agents with wallets can pay on their own. They add that agents always have humans and the blockchain systems behind them. Ripple gave no date for the next phases.
Insight: Payment networks now compete to be the agent wallet
Lightning Labs also opened a Bitcoin toolkit for agents, with a wallet limit of 300,000 satoshi and a fee of 0.25%. A RippleX engineer said agent payments are about 25% of the work on the XRP Ledger. This reads as a race to be the first rail that agent builders select, because the kit a team learns first can set its rail. Builders get alternatives, and they must compare fees and limits.
