Mistral says Le Chonk is the top open-weight model for coding

Mistral, a company in France, says the complete version of its Le Chonk model is the best open-weight model in the world for automated coding and cybersecurity. An open-weight model has files that a person can download and operate. The model has one trillion parameters, which are the numbers that a model learns. Mistral says the model equals or beats models from DeepSeek and Z.ai of China. The model is free to get at this time.

Mistral says it gave the model coding and cybersecurity problems that became more and more difficult. It says this made the model equal to or more correct than the Chinese models.
